Seven Mile Cafe

“Oh crap there is gonna be a wait….. Nevermind look at that rockstar parking!”

Great spot for brunch. This place is always busy, but the staff is top notch

When you have been flying planes into the early hours of the morning, you really don’t have the energy to fix breakfast. Since this is not our stomping grounds we let our hosts point us in the right direction. They gave us three options. Goldrush CafĂ© which was an old style restaurant that featured American comfort food. Garden Cafe which featured more modern dishes. Last on the list was Seven Mile Cafe which specializes in brunch and dinner. I checked out the menu on their website and was sold! You have a lot of options to make an entree your own. From simple eggs, bacon, toast dishes to full on Migas and gluten sensitive options. (No true gluten free dishes as there could be cross contamination in the kitchen. They list this in their menu) We picked to sit at the small bar they have on one side of the restaurant. We had an amazing time chatting it up with the staff as they fixed drinks for other patrons in the restaurant. It was a constant stream of people moving in and out of the restaurant for a Saturday morning. The staff was on it, working as a team and communicating what help they needed or items made.

I ordered a bottomless coffee to start and Vanna ordered a Nutella Mocha Cafe. Both good choices. The coffee is not too light or bold. A simple blend as not to try to complete with all of the other great flavors out there. Vanna ordered a double stack of birthday birthday pancakes (Gluten sensitive) along with a free strawberry Nutella pancake. I ordered the Cookies and Cream waffle (Gluten sensitive). All three items were phenomenal. A lot of times gluten free items are rubbery or gritty and do not stay together. So when they made it to our spot we were super impressed that the pancakes and waffle held together and had a softness to it. Golden Brown, while sending off an amazing smell into the air. I cut into my waffle with my fork and was able to break off a piece with no problem. Even with the waffle fully loaded with syrup, whipped cream, and cookie crumbles it held together perfectly. I enjoyed two cups of their bottomless coffee which help to cut down on some of the sweetness sitting in front of me. The Nutella pancake below was a treat itself. Lots of flavor, fresh strawberries and just the right amount of Nutella for the pancake. It was so rich that it did not need any syrup. The iced Nutella Mocha Cafe and Nutella pancake was a nice combo. Yes it is a lot of Nutella but as a treat it is worth the extra calories. If you are in Mesquite, Texas you have to stop in Seven Mile Cafe
