Why are you trying to be a backseat driver

Nobody likes a backseat driver……or do they?

When your plans get rained out you have to adjust on the fly. We already had jiggitys packed up for our trip to the North Light 420 Cannafest, so we did not anticipate having to kill a few hours before the event. We were standing at the cash register in Walgreens getting candy for the car ride when I received an email from the event saying it was moved to three pm. Well that’s a bummer, now we have to find something to do. We pulled up events going on in the area and headed towards a “Free Market” that always has a great set of vendors attending. We pull up to the spot and decided against standing in the rain waiting to get into a crowded building. So we went back on the hunt again. We decided on Good Day Farm Central West End location to avoid the big crowds in the city. We are glad we did! We got to watch cars in the parking lot get booted for parking in the lot and walking to another business in the area. It was $400 per booted car! We went inside and met a nice young lady who was the Assistant GM and an awesome budtender who was informed about the products on the shelf. So I wanted to get a pre-roll to try for a review. Normally I am against buying pre-rolls from the dispensary due to poor quality and flavor issues in the past. So to be on the safe side I asked for something that had “gas” to it. And no Diesel and Gas do not smell the same nor taste the same.  So I asked the budtender what he recommended out of their $12 pre-roll section. He came back with Gaschata, which is a cross between Horchata and Grape Gasoline. I have not had that strain yet so lets go with that one. Little did I know it came with a backseat driver………..

It comes in at a total of 278.48 mg/g of total THC. This pre-roll comes packed evenly and with an unbleached hemp rolling paper. The tip has the word marijuana printed on one side of it so you know it is not CBD. Cracking open the tube it gives a slight minty grape smell, it is very faint but it is there. Lighting the pre-roll was hassle free and allowed for a smooth even draw. Remember it is not a race so take your time with it. Suggested dose size is a quarter joint…….yea that was not gonna happen. I fired it up and once I got the burnt paper taste out of the way it was on to actually tasting the flower.

There is nothing worse than a backseat driver yelling “Give it gas, gas, and more gas! There is an over powering amount of gas. Point on the board for the budtender who knew his stuff. I went looking for the doob tube to see what the label said the terpenes were in the pre-roll. What do you know…… they are not listed. Why would you not list at least the major terpenes in it? That is a one point deduction! So I went to the good ol’ trusty internet and found this from Allbud.com

It is nice when you can find information about the strain…….sucks I had to do a 2 minute Google search for something that should be on the label. All Bud mentions it should have notes of fruit, flowers, and of course gas/diesel. Diesel has a more earthy, nutty, boldness to it compared to gas which is more menthol/minty spicy. Think of a light fuel (gas) vs a heavy one (diesel). Back to the review. It took a couple of puffs to get the hints of grape and a basil like taste which adds a slight sweet note with the grape. I can say it has more gas than anything else. So if you are looking for a fruity gas strain this may be a little much for you. It is all gas and if you stick your head out the window you might smell the flowers and fruit as you go. I am not a fan of the “only white ash” crowd as a quality indicator as it can be faked with added calcium to the plants. It did stay lit long enough for a few  good puffs before it self extinguished, nice. It is a strong one and if you are new to smoking cannabis, you might want to take it easy. In the beginning it gives you a nice focus and little kick in the butt mentally. Physically I “felt” lighter and moved with a sense of purpose. That was that freaking backseat driver telling me to keep moving. Fast forward about a hour later and all of that was gone and you would have thought I was sitting there like the old “your brain on drugs” commercial they used to try and scare us with. I was STUCK! Well done Gaschata, well done.

I can’t vouch for other pre-rolls but I would pick this one up again if I needed something quick and I was out in the city.
