He may not have a crystal ball, but he does have Sublime

Public Enemy performing at a Evolution Fest 2025

Evolution Music Festival 2025

Hi Neighbor was lucky enough to be invited in the Evolution Music Festival’s Neighborhood. We were escorted around the grounds to see Mr. Steve Schankman, the man behind this amazing event, put on by Contemporary Productions. The festival grounds were full of activity of crews setting up and doing last minute checks to make sure the event happens without any negative experiences for festival attendees. We pull up to the main stage area where we catch sight of the Sublime crewmembers setting up during their sound check. It is a sight to behold.

Two tall rectangular screens box in the main stage with a large screen behind the performers on the main stage. The World Wide Technology main stage contained an area with cabanas that sit above the general admission area. Next to the general admission is the “Pit” which was separated by an alleyway is the VIP area which contain Club Evolution and the raised VIP section to watch the mainstage. We caught up with Steve in the general admission area to interview him about the Evolution Music Festival. In talking with Steve you can hear his love of the arts and the wide variety of music that is out there. He is far from a normal music industry heavyweight. He actively plays the trumpet for “The Fabulous Motown Review” which has captivated crowds all over the country. If we had more time with him we would have loved to hear about his experiences as an artist playing with some pretty famous people.

The Evolution Festival brought in acts from across the world. Artists coming from Texas, Puerto Rico, New York, California, UK, Sweden and more! From hard hitting punk bands and historic rap groups to some of the biggest rock stars like Sublime and Lenny Kravitz. The latter two names mentioned are the headliners for end of the night. Sublime hit the World Wide Technology stage Saturday night and Lenny was the main attraction Sunday night. Proceeds from this event were donated to the United Way of Greater St. Louis.
