Ricky Bobby – If ya ain’t first ya last

You would have thought Ricky Bobby raced tractors with all that diesel!

This strain is a cross between Tire Fire x Unicorn Strains. It was named after the lead character in Talladega Nights – Ricky Bobby. When I first opened the 7 gram pack up I thought it was going to be a pack of smashed buds that were old since I did pick this up on a 4/20 sale. You never know stuff that goes on sale and you can’t inspect the product. Luckily that was not the case with my purchase from Luxury Leaf in St. Louis. The package was heat sealed and had the thick “child resistant” bag seal. I crack it open and right away I can smell the fruits and berries that is mentioned. No diesel is to be found in this aroma profile. It was dense but light at the same time. Not quite airy but for how dense they look you would have thought they had a little more ‘heft’ to them. Small minor things that did not affect the bud, more an appearance issue. I pulled apart one of the medium size buds in the bag and it did not release any other smells, just berry. I used a small grinder that I got for free at one of the cannabis events we traveled to to break down the bud into a semi fine ground. It did not stick together but did stick to my thumb. It also brushed off super easy. I packed one of the Pop Cones I still had and had no problems stuffing the cone. Ricky Bobby lit even and quickly.

You know how it goes……you have to burn off the paper crown and then the fun begins. First real hit and it is nothing but diesel! Sitting at the truck stop with Big Rigs rolling coal all around you! If you are not ready for it it can be a lot. You won’t be focused on finding the other notes hidden in the fog of diesel. It took me a few more hits before I got past that and could even begin looking for the “berry” taste they said was there. Oh it is there just hiding in the corner chilling in a cloud of diesel. It is a good strain to use if you need a pick me up as you will get a good body high and the giggles. The world will seem funnier and you will feel lighter and move with ease to your next destination. I used this strain while capturing the first Weed Olympics hosted by North Light and Vibe Cannabis. This strain kept me moving until it didn’t. It drops you from 30,000 feet with no warning, engine in full stall and you are racing towards the ground. I did notice that boost in energy could be due to an elevated heart rate. It was not out of control or made me feel like I was going to pass out. I felt it when I was standing still trying to hold the camera steady and noticed my heart beat in my chest going a little fast. After a little bit it subsided and I was mellow and moving with ease. Ricky Bobby is not a strain for the faint of heart. It has a lot of diesel and you have to work to find the fruity undertones. You get them but you have to take your time. Solid 7/10 for this one.
